I would like to congratulate Maureen for her achievements at Charming Shoppes, Inc. as ranked in the WWD Top 20 publicly traded high-volume specialists (login required) coming in at #4. She has taken the firm from zero to more than $25 million in annual online sales revenues in a very short amount of time.
Volume: $2.76 billion, up 18 percent
This plus-sized specialty retailer registered a 54 percent spike in profits last year with its Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines brands. It also bought the catalogue unit from Crosstown Traders.
This would scare the shit out of almost anyone. You thought the new Macbooks ran hot; check out another Dell notebooks goes Ka-Boom. The carnage reminds of the scenes from the Aliens trilogy where the creatures blood is a strong acid and eats through pretty much everything; kind of like this dell laptop battery acid.
Update: Dell to recall 4.1 million notebook computer batteries.
I do not know if it is possible for me to become any more of a proponent for the excellent web browser FireFox. So be a chum and enlighten a non-user of the intrinsic worth of a standards compliant browser. Furthermore, someone over at Mozilla (I assume) was quick on the draw www.ie7.com.
New photos posted to my Flickr account. First the wife headed off to a Kelly Clarkson concert which appears to have turned into a complete debacle. I, fortunately, could not be persuaded to attend the concert.
The fireworks and skyline photos are from Monroe Harbor. We enjoyed the 49th Annual Venetian Night boat tour from our friend’s new boat picked up that day.
To continue on the subject of spam; not only does my new mobile number get a random spam txt but my blog is getting hammered with comment spam. Although it sucks to moderate your friends I am glad that I choose to not leave commenting wide open. That is until now; I just enable Akismet this morning, and at 7:20 tonight it has already grabbed 28 spam comments and/or trackbacks. Unbelievable, do you think these assholes actually get paid off of comment spam?
I received my first spam text message on the new candy bar. I knew it was only a matter of time until a spambot started blasting a rolodex worth of numbers through a service provider’s website. Now the question is will I be paying $.10 for this spam.
Rid your home of vampire power and live an energy conscientious lifestyle with these IDEA award winning power strips. The modular E-rope can be turned 90 degrees to essentially unplug your not-in-use power hungry device. They look cool too.
If you have not taken notice, stickrod.com is cloaked in a new theme. I have decided to go the route of live coding; that is making style changes to the site as it is, live. I reckon this will force me to get off my ass and start implementing design elements that I have scratched on paper. The base of this design is the Wordpress template unsleepable which in turn is based upon K2. Both masterful works in their own right. There are more than a few broken items stinking up the place; I plan on tackling them one-by-one hopefully rendering a usable (readable) blog as a result. Lastly, I have abandoned the site design version numbering for it really does not apply to this mess.
Urban waste land becomes Star Wars scenes for action figures with these photos from Cedric Delsaux. At first sight I thought people got dressed up in Star Wars costumes and roamed an urban landscape scouting for pix but Joey tells us they are superimposed figures.
Sony has made a strategic decision to kill off the UMD format for movies according to Gamespot. Hopefully I can pickup a bunch of the discontinued media on the cheap.
McDonalds gets creative with breakfast promotion in Wrigleyville.

Back from vacation, we are. Had a great time in the Cape. Chatham is a great place that you not only visit but also lodge. Very quant and pedestrian friendly; the houses were just amazing. Nantucket was a really neat island with a lot of history, the oldest house in the Unites States for example. It down poured for a solid three hours during our visit ACK so a down poured some find micro brews over engaging conversation with the wife. As for Martha’s Vineyard, unless you are rolling in the cash do not bother with this carnival island. Besides the attractionless Vineyard the vacation was a badly needed rest, time to unplug and reload.
Heading off to Cape Cod for the remainder of the week. We are planning on spending some time in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Hopefully the weather clears up for us. The Northeast has been getting hammered with storms for over a week leaving many parts flooded and damaged.
